"This is roleplay, the interaction beyond the pixels".

Every month CipSoft give to us, with the Featured Articles, an opportunity to meet the scenes behind Tibia. Based on this, RPGTibia developed an article that will approach you to the Roleplayer universe!

Although they speak about different things, the Featured Articles have something in common, some kind of Brainstorm where the ideas are thrown and availed in some manner that they divide in: "applicable", "improbable" and "non-applicable". It's the same thing in roleplay. Everything is based around the interpretation, but everything starts with the creation of your character.

The first and most obvious step is thinking the name you will be called. And in this step you have total freedom to choose whatever name you want, although common sense is important and names like "Darkness Knight of Light" and "Maker of Irving" aren't very well-seen.

The second step is, probably, the most important step. Now you will transform a bunch of pixels in an "almost-living-being". The outfit that was like the others will now receive an unique description, now you can have a white beard, small blue eyes, over-weighted, taller, a big nose with a wart, muscles, scars, tatoos and even some caracteristic gestures and phrases are part of the physical description of your character.

The image is very important, but it doesn't create a complete character. Still in this step you will develop the personality of your character, and the most interesting thing, is that it can be the opposite of you. Being calm, selfish, manipulator, aggressive, drunk, childish, prudent, observer, agile, qualities, defects and a infinity of psychological characteristcs compose your character.

Now you can hear it, with that fast talk, maybe slow; chatting with you, unfortunately it is still empty, doesn't speak about a lot of things, because it doesn't have a past. So, we will proceed to the third step, create a character history. Let your creativity flow, but remember that everything you say now will have to be mainteined in your in-game interpretation. Before everything, remember that your character history is not limited to the past, your actions today are your past tomorrow, your history. You will tell your history until the start point, after that only Banor knows.

It's up to you being a warrior frozen due to the cold Ice Islands; a druid that can't control it's powers; a cursed magician that needs dwarven blood to survive; a magician which powers come from his wits and not from magic; an human that become a vampire, cliches are allowed too, you can be an orphan or a dragon killer. What you was is up to you, but remember: You will have to keep this in-game! You can't be a powerful magician if you can only use a magic of light.

Now you have a complete character, adapt yourself to it and develop your interpretation. Ah! Interpretation, that's the key word for roleplay. < Kicks the door > A beer and a fat portion of ham! And be fast man, I will start to speak about the magic of roleplay!

Roleplaying is, basically, a game style. It's an option you have when you play, like the well-known Powergamming. In RPG you have a lot of freedom and everything is part of your history, other players < Coughs > - even the non-roleplayers - are part of your life and interacts with you, the famous NPC's are much more than coadjuvants here, because, just like you, they have a past. Even the land and the creatures interact in a less mechanic way than the simple poof-spark-blood, you imagine the sea wind, the sound of the leaves and animals crawling in the grass, if you didn't interpretate you wouldn't even be listening to me!
